Three things to pray for in 2025
Happy 2025! New seasons bring new changes, and a fresh chance to ask God what His plan is for your life and your family. With that in mind, here are some things that I think God wants us to pray for/about in 2025:
Faith
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1, NIV. We live in a world that constantly says, “prove it.” Prove that your God is real, prove that this faith makes any difference, etc. We need to pray for the faith to step out in confidence of Jesus Christ, the truth of the gospel, and the assurance of our hope in Him. Our world needs Jesus, and we need to pray for faith that, even in opposition, will press on in confidence and assurance that our God is alive and moving.
Protection
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. – 1 Peter 5:8, NIV. No doubt the enemy is working hard to stop the movement of God’s kingdom and to derail your walk with Christ. His goal – if He can accomplish it – is to knock you out of the game, to weaken you, to devour any he can, and deceive as many as he can. So pray for protection! Pray protection for your kids, and grandkids; that the enemy would not gain a foothold in their lives. Pray the same for yourself. Pray protection over our schools and workplaces; that God-honoring activities and ideas would thrive. Pray for your church: that it would be Spirit-filled and bold. Pray most of all for the strength to continue in battle, because for this moment the enemy remains, but we know who has won the war – Jesus!
Kingdom Advancement
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20, NIV. We have a mission to fulfill. God is in the business of saving souls, and we are His hands and feet – messengers of the best news. Part of that mission is praying that God would advance His kingdom here. Pray that He would bring more into His family, that He would continue to break the chains of addiction, family issues, hurts, and bondage. Pray that He would create more testimonies of salvation in 2025. Pray to be ready to be used by Him as a tool for this advancement.
