Welcome to February. I don’t know about you, but I always struggle in February. Not much happens this month… it’s cold, there’s snow. Valentine’s day is nice. Family day too come to think of it. For the most part, though February is one of those months where things slowly move along.
We’re on this journey together as a body on working on our foundation. The foundation of what we believe, why we believe it, and understanding the identity God has given our church. Doing foundation work takes work. Working on a foundation requires care, time, energy, and skill. It must be done well, or the foundation could experience more problems because of well-meaning repairs. It is in this framework that we find ourselves – in February 2024 – working together to carefully strengthen our foundation with God.
February might be a slow month, but that doesn’t mean God’s not doing anything in it. Often, when we think things are going slow, God is using that time to do vital work so that we are prepared for what He wants to do next. I truly believe God is working and wants to continue to work here, in Leask, through us.
So, here’s the encouragement for February. Don’t give up. Don’t give up when it’s slow, or seems meaningless, or when things seem like they are not going where you want them when you want them. Both in our personal lives and corporately, we need to let God do the work He wants to do. As we journey together as a church working on our foundations, I pray you will use this month to press into how God is moving in your life, leading you more growth, maturity, and faith. James 1:1-12
